Microgreens are young vegetable and herb seedlings harvested one to three weeks after sowing. They can be grown indoors on racks with trays, grow lights and a simple watering routine, so a spare room or a small rented space is enough to start.

Cafés, restaurants and premium grocers are the usual buyers, so speak to a few before you scale up and agree on regular weekly orders. Because you are selling food, plan for FSSAI registration. Yields and prices vary by crop and city, so run a small trial batch to learn your real costs.

Costs are rough estimates and vary by city and scale. Check locally, and confirm licences with the relevant authority, before you commit money.
